Blessings

I’m not normally the type of person who uses the word, “blessings.” Not to imply that I’m not thankful for things in my life or feel gratitude on a daily basis (I do!), but to me, blessings rise to a different level. Blessings are a feeling of gratitude that sinks deep in the marrow of my bones combined with a feeling of luck that makes me feel light on my feet. Blessings bring tears to my eyes, long after the situation has passed.   September was a month when I was reminded o...

Life Moves Pretty Fast

It's been a while since I've written a blog post. If you follow me on social media, I've been quiet there, too. That's 'cause a lot has been happening in my life over the course of the past month. This post should get you up to speed. First off--no, I'm not pregnant. It's the first question everyone seems to ask when I say I have news. Which is fair, I guess. I'm 37 years old and madly in love. But that's not the news. [caption id="attachment_1140" align="aligncenter" width="576"] The Viki...

On Writing

I’m working on a novel that’s a stretch for the me. The storyline is different, the subject will be controversial, and I’m experimenting with point of view. Acceptance and the Contacts Experiment

Originally posted on Harlequin SuperAuthors page (http://www.superauthors.com/2016/02/acceptance-and-contacts-experiment.html) Hey everyone! It's been a while since I posted over here. No excuses, just busy and distracted, like everyone else. Getting back into the swing of writing on the blog has been one of my goals for the new year and I'm glad to be working my way to that goal! On to the post! I wear glasses. I've worn glasses since I was in second grade. I was in Mrs. Ohlensehlen's ...

I was on the radio!

This is probably old news for some of you, but I forgot to post it here. Durham County Library had a screening of the documentary, Love Between the Covers, and the writer/director, Laurie Kahn, and I were on the local NPR show, "The State of Things," for it. It's a twenty-minute clip if you want to listen to it. I had tons of fun. And, I was on NPR--a dream of mine since I was about 14. (I was a nerdy child :D)  ...

New Year’s Resolution

Fair warning, blog readers. This will be a personal post. I don’t write them often, but sometimes I need to keep myself honest. A couple months ago someone (Janet Lee Nye, I think) posted an article called the Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck to Facebook. Go click on it, for the picture if nothing else. I’ll wait… Did you admire the kitty picture? So did I. I also liked the article. However, I’ll be honest; I liked the article in the general way of liking articles. I read it, though...
